Mother's Day Cards

Time just flies doesn't it! Mother's Day is this weekend and I'm finally finishing my cards for my mom and my Grandmother. One of them was using this past weeks Bitten By The Bug challenge which was to use the Vase and the word Mom from the Beyond Birthdays cartridge. You should see all the beautiful things the girls did with this challenge!

Here's mine, which I kind of made it into a shaped card:

I also used a printable stamp from The Cutting Café from Regina's All About Mom set. It's a really great set with a BUNCH of great stamps (you'll see a few more that I used on my Grandmother's card:

I cut out a butterfly and some of the flowers from the gorgeous SEI paper:

Here's the back where you can see I welded the Vase, Mom and a rectangle together using the CDS:

I really like this stamp, I'm not sure who it's by, I used at my LSS during a workshop. I stamped it a bunch of times on different papers to have a few on hand ;p:

And as always with the matching envelop. The leafy ribbon was left over from the workshop I took, it's really pretty but doesn't photograph well.

And here's the card I made my Grandmother, using 2 more printable stamps from the All About Mom set at The Cutting Café.

These are actually two separate printable stamps that I imported into Inkscape so I could print them together on the same paper:

I just love anything scrolly!:

Using Inkscape again I was able to delete everything except the blossoms so I could print those on a separate piece of paper without wasting to much of it:

And of course I always have to jazz up the inside:

Mother's Love:
-CS: Bazzill Basics "Guacamole", "Fussy", "Piglet"
-PPs: SEI Chocolat Cherie and Basic Grey Porcelain "Chintz" and "Chatsworth"
-Printable Stamps: All About Mom from The Cutting Café
-Cricut Cuts: Beyond Birthdays for the Vase cut at 5 3/4" with a shadow and the word Mom cut at 1 1/8" with a shadow all welded with a rectangle from George. And the scallop is from AE cut at 1 3/4" with a shadow

-CS: Bazzill Basics "Palo Verde" and "Tropical"
-PPs: K&Company "K-Ology Peabody" Scrap Pad to Go and MM "Noteworthy Audrey"
-Printable Stamps: All About Mom from The Cutting Café
-Rubber Stamps: Inkadinkado "Handmade with Love"
-Misc: Pigment Ink, Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Satin Ribbon

TFL and Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!!!

Puppy Dog Tails...BBTB Challenge & BUG BLOG HOP

Some very fun and exciting news going on over at the Bitten By The Bug site...we are having our first BUG BLOG HOP in which some of the design team members are giving away some yummy Blog Candy, like myself this week. This is our 1st hop and there will be more to come!

So 1st I will show you what I did for challenge, which was to use ANY cut from the Doodlecharms cartridge BUT using the border feature. You should go over to the BBTB site and see all the wonderful things that the other DT members did.

I decided to use the cute puppy face and make a card for my nephew for his Baptism that was held this past Sunday.

I kind of made it into a shaped card with the 1st puppy face and welded the words to it.

I used the Cuttin' Up cartridge for the words:

Isn't he a cutie (although not anywhere near as cute as my nephew):

I just love these frogs I cut out from some PP from Cloud9:

With the envie:

And I just had to add a good amount of that so cute PP for the flap of the envie:

BUT here's the real cutie! At 10 weeks old and only getting cuter!

Now for the really cool thing...the BUG BLOG HOP...here is the candy that I'm giving away:

-Self-adhering stamps by Inque Boutique see d's, it's a set of 7 stamps and comes with a stamping mat
-Colorbox's Chianti (Red) Pigment Ink
-Stampendous Embossing Powder - Clear Transparent
-Best Occasions Vellum Quote Romance Pack
-Sweet Treat Ribbon

I'll be using random.org to pick the winner...all you have to do is leave me a comment on this post and help me out with a problem I can't figure out...I use Herma Dotto's Dispenser using their removable adhesive which I love how easy it is to apply BUT my problem is it's such a pain to clean the edges of the cut image from having little "frays" of the adhesive. So my question to you is what adhesive or more importantly what method do you use to adhere letters/images from one card stock to another card stock without having all the little "frays" show up around the edges?

Once you've done that, I will enter you in the drawing and then you continue on with the hop by going over to Penny Shuberg's blog and see her so very cute project done for the BBTB challenge and also see what she has for Blog Candy to give away!

Please leave your comment to this post by midnight EST Saturday, May 2nd and I'll will announce the winner on Sunday. Thanks!

OH, and if you have the same adhesive problem I have just leave me a comment that you came and visited my site so I can enter you in the drawing. :)

Recipe:
-CS: Bazzill Basics "Iced Cocoa", "Cinnamon Stick", "Safari" & "Mocha Divine" and
The Paper Company "Pastel Pink Texture" & "Navy Blue"
-PP: Cloud9 Design "Sparkle Baby Boy Frogs"
-Fluid Chalk Inks: Colorbox "Rose Coral", "Creamy Brown" and "Chestnut Roan"
-Cricut Carts: Doodlecharms cut at 3" using the border feature and Cuttin' Up cut at 1" using the shadow and cartoon features (welded in CDS).

Blossoms and Blooms

This past weeks Bitten By the Bug challenge was to use the word spring from the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge. You should go over and see all the very cute and pretty things the other design team members did.

For my project I used this really cool item from The Cutting Café. Regina really knows how to make some great boxes and card holders. This one is her Greeting Card Holder which can hold 4 quarter fold cards with envies (2 on each side). It can also be used for other things like in my case I used it as a seed packet holder.

And when you open it up you find the seed packets or cards or whatever you feel like putting in it:

This is the cut from Stretch Your Imagination:

Seeds:
-CS: TPC "Pink Pastel Texture", "White Texture" and Bazzill Basics "Passionate"
-PP: SEI "Chocolat Cherie"
-Cricut Cart: Stretch Your Imagination the word Spring at the base shift feature cut @ 3 1/2" with a shadow
-Computer font: LDJ Jester @ 30 pts
-Misc: Adhesive and chipboard

Grilling LO...kinda for the BBTB...I've been tagged

OK, I starting working on my Bitten By The Bug project on time but ended up getting interrupted by lots of stuff and wasn't able to get back to it today. Bad, bad, bad design team member!!!

This is another LO I did for my future mother-in-law...my promise to make her a scrapbook of her grandkids.

The BBTB challenge was to use the "laugh often" cut from the Beyond Birthday cartridge. You really should go over and see all the beautiful things the other DTs did with this challenge!

Here's mine:

This is a really fun cut, great for using on a card to cheer someone up:

On this really cool designer paper by Flair Designs "Hot Off the Grill" there were these really great images and off course when you do a LO you end up covering some great stuff, so I cut out these images where I placed my pictures, matted them on some dark CS to make them pop:

Now onto a different topic, I've been tagged by Donna, who is a very talented lady and a fellow design team member on The Cutting Café. I'm to post the 4th pic in one of my files and explain it. So here it is:

This is my adorable nephew, Chase, who is now 5 weeks old, isn't he a cutie!?!?!

Now I'm going to tag...Glee, Becky, Cindy and Claudia. Must check out blogs for some really great inspiration!

:)

I'm a little sad today, but I'll cheer up with a Heart BBTB Challenge

It's Monday and back to work (that in itself will make you sad! LOL) and it's after a weekend that went way too fast (as always!).

Since New Years, little by little I've been taking down the Christmas decorations and putting them in one of our spare bedrooms...but finally yesterday we did the deed and took down the the little house village in our master bedroom:

This is a very large shelf that leads up to our attic, see that tiny door, that's how we get into the attic. This little village is so pretty and gives off the prettiest glow at night when we go to bed. We have it set up on a timmer to go off at midnight, as I'm sure most of you crafters are up with me at that time or later. ;p

Well of course that had to come down in order to be able to get to the attic to put everything away even though it's something that would be pretty to keep up for the winter, like some of the snowmen that I keep out.

And to make it worse we took down the tree and the large village houses under it. :(
Now it's so bare!! We put our tree in the corner of our livingroom where there is a closet to the water heater and the side door. If it wasn't for those doors we would put a peice of furniture there so it wouldn't look so pathetically bare. I know, after a 2-3 weeks it will look back to normal...

So to get some cheer back I thought I would share my Bitten By the Bug challenge! Usually I don't get to post this until Monday or Tuesday night, but I thought I would sneak some time out of work and cheer myself up. Especially since a collegue of mine just stopped by and told me how excited she was when she was watching TV yesterday and saw the Cricut infomercial with my card. Oops, I forgot to tell a few friends here about it! Been extrememly insanely busy here at work that I haven't had much time for socializing...

So anyway, this week's challenge was to use one of the hearts from the Wedding Solutions cart. Which I don't have yet, and eventually should get since I'm hoping in the somewhat near future I will be able to start planning my wedding and this cart would be great for my scrapbook. So first I would like to thank the very talented Regina for sending me a PDF version of the cut so I could import it into Inkscape and then import that into Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) and cut it out on my Cricut (this one was a bit too intricate to cut out by hand). Thanks Regina!!!

So here's my project:

I also used Regina's Heart Bag cutting file (minus the heart cut out):

If you want to see a version I did with the heart window in the bag, click here. And if you would like to purchase this cutting file, go on over the The Cutting Café where you can purchase this and many other very cute bags, boxes, shaped cards and printable stamps designed by Regina. There's also a gallery of all the things you can do with these files showcased by the very talented and creative design team members.

I decided I wanted a few layers for this card so I used the words Love from the Stamped and Beyond Birthdays carts:

The letter U is from the Alphalicious cart using the Shortstack and Shadow features:

A little machine stitching:

And with the envie, using the Heart border punch from Fiskars:

Love Potion:
-CS: Bazzill Basics "Carob", "Malted Milk", "Quick Sand" and "Ruby Slipper"
-PPs: DCWV Love & Wedding Stack
-Fluid Chalk Inks: Colorbox "Creamy Brown", "Chestnut Roan", "Dune" and "Merlot"
-Pigment Ink: Colorbox "Frosted White" (dabbed onto the red CS for the love words)
-Stickles: Diamond
-Template: Heart Bag from Regina's The Cutting Cafe
-Cricut carts:
Wedding Solutions for the Heart cut at 2 1/2" for the card and 2" for the bag.
Stamped for the word Love cut at 3" for the card and 2" for the bag both using the shadow feature.
Beyond Birthdays for the scripted word Love cut at 2" and 1 3/8" both for the card.
Alphalicious for the letter U cut at 2 1/2" for the card and 2" for the bag both using the shortstack and shadow features.
-Misc: Brown thread, sewing machine, ribbon, Fiskar's Heart border punch and black gelly roll pen

Is that a snail? Ewww!

Here's my project for last week's challenge over at the Bitten By the Bug. It was to use the snail from the Walk In My Garden cartridge. It's a really cute snail. You should go over to the BBTB site to check out all the amazing creations from the other DT members.

There's this place a couple miles from my home called The Butterfly Place. It has the most amazing butterflies flying around in this really pretty atrium. It also has a learning center where you can see each stage of the "birth" of a butterfly. And they have more creatures than just butterflies.

So I once again I took the BBTB challenge and used it for the scrapbook I'm making...

Recipe:
-CS: TPC "Sable"
-PPs: Autumn Leaving "Epiphany-Life Is" and DCWV Old World Stack
-Fluid Chalk Inks: Colorbox "Creamy Brown", "Dark Brown", "Chestnut Roan", "Olive" and "Pink Pastel"
-Pearls: Michaels
-Flowers: Colorbok
-Fonts: scrapNfont.com "CK Curly" at 36 pts
-Cricut carts: WIMG for the snail cut at 2" with a shadow and TBBM for the Tags
